About Us

South Darwin Rugby Union Football Club is one of the Northern Territory’s oldest and proudest rugby clubs — and the current 2024/25 A-Grade and B-Grade Men’s Champions.

The club’s history stretches back to the very first NTRU season, which kicked off in October 1976. That inaugural competition featured six teams, with South Darwin facing the RSL Dragons in the opening match at Alawa Oval on 2 October 1976. Since then, the Rabbitohs have built a strong legacy of success, claiming premierships in 1988, 2005, 2008, and 2020/21. In 2024/25, the club made history by securing both the A-Grade and B-Grade Men’s Premierships for the very first time.

Beyond senior rugby, South Darwin is equally proud of its thriving junior program. With teams ranging from Under 5s through to open age groups, the club is dedicated to growing the game and fostering the next generation of rugby players in the Top End.
