Australian Financial Advisers secure strategic partnership with South Darwin Rugby Union Club

South Darwin Rugby Union Club and Australian Financial Advisers (AFA) Darwin are pleased to announce an exciting, innovative partnership that will provide South Darwin with more opportunities to build a sustainable and competitive Club.

This exciting partnership will include AFA Darwin securing full naming rights to the South Darwin’s Tens Rugby competition being held on Saturday 1 March at Rugby Park.

The Club’s Committee and Executive Relationship Manager of AFA Jocelyn Cull are delighted by the coming together of the two organisations to ensure the growth and professional development of South Darwin.

”AFA Darwin is committed to providing growth opportunities for Darwin, and this includes Clubs such as South Darwin, a founding club of the NT Rugby. We are in the business of providing wealth management advice and by partnering with South Darwin Rugby Club we can help the Committee develop and grow into a prosperous Club,” said Jocelyn Cull, Executive Relationship Manager of AFA.

The South Darwin Rugby Club Committee are committed to building a more professional Club and they have made significant inroads recently with securing former Wallaby captain Nathan Sharpe as their Ambassador, further developed their corporate events including the Sponsors (Evening), Old Boys Network Event and Ladies Cocktail Event at Rydges Airport Hotel and have built a solid line up of teams for the 2014 season including seniors, women’s and junior teams.

South Darwin Rugby Club will directly benefit from this relationship through the products and services AFA can provide. “South Darwin Rugby Club is very excited to be involved with a company not only founded in Darwin, but one that is genuinely passionate about Rugby and what we are trying to achieve at the Club,” said Club President Katie Kelly.

“AFA have also secured the naming rights of the South Darwin’s Tens competition. Their support means we can build this event to be a major fixture on the Rugby pre season calendar. In time we hope to attract teams from across the NT. This year’s event on this Saturday 1 March from midday, will feature 8 (teams), and includes $1,000 prize money. It’s Free Entry for children and we are also co-inciding this event with our 2014 Junior sign on,” said Katie Kelly.

AFA, already a key sponsor of other sporting clubs in Australia including the Brisbane Roar, have an extensive network for South Darwin Rugby Club to access to build its corporate and supporter base. The Club is now planning to build South Darwin’s biggest rivalry matches in 2014 to attract bigger crowds and offer more incentives for corporates to attend matches at Rugby Park.

Nathan Sharpe – Honorary Rabbit

Nathan Sharpe awarded Honorary RabbitSouths are pleased to announce that former Wallaby Nathan Sharpe will be an honorary Rabbit in 2014.

Nathan has recently set up an office in Darwin. When Nathan is in town, he will come and help the Rabbits at training and be involved whenever time permits. There will be a spare jersey for him each game day just in case.

Sharpy’s first official duties with the Rabbits in 2014 will be during the “Hottest” 7s in January. Sharpy and Tim Horan will be guest speakers at the Heineken lunch on the Friday before the event. Sharpe will then assist the coaching staff of the Rabbits as they look to defend their Gecko Shield title and maybe go one better by winning the Barra Bowl.

The SDRU “Hottest” 7s squad will be announced before Xmas. Training for the 7s will commence on January 14th.
