Rabbitohs in Preliminary Finals for both grades
It was an exciting night of Rugby in the first round of the NT Rugby Final series with both Rabbitohs senior grades, the JJ’s Car Hire 2nd Grade and Parap Tavern 1st Grade showing plenty of skill and tenacity.
JJ’s Car Hire 2nd Grade won 29-15 defeating Darwin Dragons. There was plenty of controversy including an unfortunate incident involving a Dragons player who knocked over the 67 year old visiting Kiwi referee and was red carded. This matter we believe is now before the NT Rugby Judiciary.
Best on ground included Club Captain Steven Eardley, Jordan Matthew Phasey and Brodie Cullen and there was a great breaking ‘Jarryd Hayne’ run from James de Dassel midway through the 2nd half.
The Parap Tavern 1st Grade produced one of their the best performances for the season. It was fast and physical match with the Rabbitohs forwards testing the Cougars pack. Once again the Rabbitohs backline proved they are one of the best in the competition with their fast attacking plays. South Darwin will take on University in the Preliminary Final after the Pirates defeated Palmerston 22-15 in the Elimination Semi Final.
This weekend is the Preliminary Final and both Rabbitohs teams are in a must win to make the Grand Final on Saturday 9 August.

Rabbitohs through to the Semis
Rabbitohs secure a berth in the 2014 NT Rugby Semi Finals after both Parap Tavern 1st and JJ’s Car Hire 2nd Grade posted wins last night.
It was a great night of Rugby for the Rabbitohs with wins in both grades against University Pirates who tested both sides.
The Rabbitohs 1st Grade has now qualified for the Major Semi Finals against Casuarina Cougars next Saturday at Rugby Park and the 2nd Grade the Minor Semi Final against Darwin Dragons.
Parap Tavern 1st Grade won 24-15 against the University Pirates whilst JJ’s Car Hire 2nd Grade had an emphatic 45-17 win.
Jake Rainger romped in four tries for the 2nd Grade taking him to 12 tries in 3 weeks. Number 7 for the Rabbitohs 1st Grade Tom Hiramatsu had an outstanding game as he constantly tested the opposition with his running game.
We encourage all Rabbitohs Members and supporters to get to Rugby Park this Saturday 26 July with the 2nd Grade match at 3.30pm and 1st Grade at 7pm.
