BMD Construction Junior of the Month: Isaac Family

This month’s BMD Construction South Darwin Rugby Union Club’s Junior profile is on the Isaac brothers – Kevin, Earnest & Chris, aged 12, 13 & 14 respectively.

New to the Rabbits in 2014 these three boys know all about what it requires to be team players as they are from a very close family of nine children where looking after one another is a part of the territory.

Representing the U15 side in both the forward pack and backline, the Isaac brothers all have one thing in common- and that’s plenty of speed. Although relatively new to rugby, coach Billy Burns has been impressed with their adaption so far and is confident they will be a strong trio by season’s end.

Is there a chance of seeing more Isaacs donning the red and green in time to come we ask……you bet- sister Nancy has just signed with the U7s. We welcome the Isaac Family to the Club and look forward to many great rugby action from all our Juniors in 2014.

South Darwin Rugby Union Club prides itself on being a Family club and welcomes all new potentially interested Juniors to contact the Club via details below.

The Issac Brothers

Life Foundation Members honoured

Following the Club’s announcement of Nathan Sharpe as the Number 1 ticket holder, South Darwin Rugby Club has announced it will honour the eight Life Foundation Members with complimentary South Darwin membership in which they own the Member numbers from two to nine.

Number 1 Ticket Holder
1. Nathan Sharpe

The Life Foundation Members and their Membership Numbers are:
2. Dr. Jim Gaffney
3. Graham Gow
4. D. Gribben
5. Mick Hedger
6. Ian Hedger
7. Kingi Teaho
8. Jimmy Kent
9. Clive Clements

These men built the Club from ground up by establishing the Club in 1976 and entering a team in the founding NT Darwin Rugby competition season of 1976/77.

With South Darwin recently launching its Membership campaign aimed at converting its Supporters to fully fledged financial Members, the Committee have allocated the top 9 Member numbers to honour our Number 1 Ticket Holder and Club Ambassador Nathan Sharpe and our eight foundation Members.

Long-time Committee Member and current Family representative Chadd Mumme said this was an important part of the Club’s history. “As a foundation club, Souths have always been the pride of the Rugby community and it is only due to these eight foundation Members that we have the Club we have today,” said Mumme.

“South Darwin Membership is an all-important means for the Club to become financially viable and to build its supporter base. We encourage all Darwin sports fans and any supporter of our Club, to make the Membership commitment and be part of our Club,” said Mumme.
